At present the parish has a staff of seven Lay Readers. They are fully vested in cassock, surplice and blue tippet (scarf) and walk in the procession. They are licensed by the Bishop each Advent to serve for the Liturgical Year. They do the opening prayer before the procession - read the Old Testament Lesson and the Epistle - and do the closing prayer following the recessional.
